SMA And Its People - book signing

Two book signing events will take place in San Miguel for Peter Olwyler's just released book of black and white photographs of the people and city of San Miguel de Allende and surrounding central Mexico. The Instituto Allende will host a book signing on Tuesday March 13, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Patio "La Pergola," Calle Ancha de San Antonio #20. The second book signing even will take place at the Biblioteca Publica de San Miguel de Allende, Insurgentes #25, on March 16th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Quetzal Room.

Peter took these black and white photographs used in "San Miguel de Allende & Its People" between 1955 and about 1971 during his Early Mexico Period. They are a tribute to the Mexicans and expatriates of the city of San Miguel de Allende and the surrounding Bajio, as well as to Peter's life. The images are historically significant, cover interesting topics, and are truly beautiful. Many have never been seen before. The text is in both Spanish and English

Michael, Peter's son, designed and published this slim book packed with images which includes photos of the Mexicans and expatriates of the city of San Miguel de Allende and surrounding communities—farmers, artists, vendors, teachers, students—the salt of the earth of central Mexico. Since his father's passing in 1999, Michael has been archiving and accessioning Peter's 40,000+ images. Michael said, "I want to perpetuate Peter's legacy by sharing with others his fine-art photojournalism, and to encourage a better understanding of the cultural milieu in the Bajío area of central Mexico and of San Miguel de Allende and its people."

Se llevarán a cabo dos eventos de firma de libros en San Miguel para el libro recién publicado de Peter Olwyler de sus fotografías en blanco y negro de la gente y la ciudad de San Miguel de Allende y el centro de México. El Instituto Allende realizará la firma de libros el martes 13 de marzo a partir de las 6:00 p.m. en el Patio "La Pérgola", Calle Ancha de San Antonio #20. El hijo de Peter, Michael, diseñó y publicó este delgado libro lleno de imágenes que incluye fotos de mexicanos y expatriados de la ciudad de San Miguel de Allende y las comunidades circundantes—granjeros, artistas, vendedores, profesores, estudiantes—la sal de la tierra del centro de México. Desde la muerte de su padre en 1999, Michael ha estado archivando y accediendo a las más de 40,000 imágenes de Peter.
