This Friday, July 28, Bellas Artes will celebrate the opening of three new exhibitions for the July-October 2017 cycle, which aims to support and promote the plastic production by emerging and mid-career Mexican artists.
In an effort, not only to exhibit but to discover and analyze the new art that is being carried out in our country, is that the works of artists from Celaya, Antonio Chaurand (1989) and Axel Iván Hidalgo Lemaire (1987), along with René Almanza (1979) artist from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, will coexist in the venue for three months.
Almanza brings us the exhibition HUMAN EX MACHINA, which is derived from a research about the possibilities of the line and the visual development through the drawing that was entitled Gloves Series. With this selection, he takes us through the evolutionary process, not only of the drawing activity through the improvement of the use of the multiple-drawing gloves invented by him, but of human evolution that goes from the "primitive" individual to the degraded, isolated and violented socius today. Almanza graduated from the School of Visual Arts at UANL Monterrey. As a young artist, the art of graphic novels, underground fanzines and comics influenced him. He was an illustrator for the political and cultural sections of the newspaper "El Norte" and for the publisher "Shinseken" in Tokyo, Japan. Since 2002 he has devoted himself to full-time art, and has exhibited extensively in Mexico, the United States and Europe. He currently has his studio and resides in Mexico City, where he also directs and coordinates the exhibition spaces of the Artecocodrilo Editions project founded by him in Oaxaca in 2003.
Chaurand will present his series of paintings entitled ENTROPY which is part of his work as a FONCA fellow in the Young Creators modality. In this series, he presents a critical view of the current socio-political scene in our country. From a constant repetition of patterns that generate unity and rhythms, from the breakdown of perspectives and a deep management of color, he generates this series of images that determine the great concepts of entropy: "abuse of authority", "ignorance", " corruption "," hunger "," pollution "," injustices", and the myriad conflicts that represent the context of a painter and an individual of the XXI century. He currently lives and works in San Miguel de Allende, where he completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Allende Institute. He has won several national painting competitions and is represented by galleries of international level.
Hidalgo Lemaire, draftsman and painter, will exhibit ABSORBED GLOW. A selection of paintings where the leadership of abstracted characters in their individuality, reflect an internal conflict despite being in situations of social coexistence or daily scenes. Through a very personal treatment of the painting, he manages to get us involved in the intimacy of these portraits of the youth of our days. Hidalgo studied the Degree in Visual Arts at the Allende Institute in the City of San Miguel de Allende, Gto. He has taken complementary courses in plastic arts with the painter Mario Cabrera and the painters Guillermo Guerrero and Miguel Ángel Garrido. It has 8 individual exhibitions and has participated in 20 collective exhibitions. He obtained the Honorable Mention in the State Contest of Painting "Tribute to Luis García Guerrero" and was awarded with the scholarship of Young Creators of FONCA 2016.
