Messages to the future.
What: Art and Expressions of Peace

Several artists have created beautiful art works expressing their feeling about peace. Their work will be part of the time capsule to be buried near the Peace Pole for fifty years. On Saturday December 2, the works will be on display and on sale during the Art Walk event at Fabrica Aurora.
By erecting a Peace Pole in Parque Juarez, San Miguel de Allende joined 200,000 cities in 194 countries around the world in expressing our aspiration for peace. The four-sided pink cantera obelisk was inaugurated on August 2nd and displays the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in six languages including English, Spanish, Otomi, Nahuatl, Braille and Mexican Sign Language.
On Peace day, September 21, Camino de la Paz joined Rotary Club San Miguel de Allende and the Rotary Club Midday of San Miguel de Allende for the inauguration of a time capsule. The time capsule will contain messages of peace from the people of San Miguel and photos of the art to be opened in the year 2067.
During Art Walk, people will be able to view and purchase some of the originals and photo prints on display The proceeds will go to local peace projects such as the Peace Education Program running at the San Miguel prison. Artists from the Fabrica Aurora galleries will collaborate on a collective canvas as a backdrop to the show.
At the event people will be offered a chance join children and citizens who contributed messages answering these two questions:
What does peace mean to you?
How do you see peace in your life and in the world in 50 years?
You can start thinking about what you will say now for posterity! Short poems, drawings and free form expressions are welcome too. Expressions have to be written clearly on a half page.
Some of the showing artists will be on hand to discuss their work. Everyone will be able to express themselves and talk peace with Camino de la Paz and Rotary activists.
