Art of Living - workshop

San Miguel is privileged to have a talented and accomplished new resident with the arrival of Sylvia Kurian.

Kurian is a Mexican psychotherapist who, until recently, ran her own Institute (Instituto de Integration Desarrollo Humano AC) in Mexico City. Sylvia believes that “by teaching, [having] practical knowledge in behaviorism and sharing personal experiences, we learn from each other and obtain mutual benefits. I realize that it is impossible to go through life without something hurting, annoying or disappointing. No one is perfect; we learn by mistakes.” Kurian further embraces the philosophy that when we accept life as it presents itself instead of wishing it to be different from what it is, we start growing. It is necessary to understand the lessons that life gives us. It does not matter if the experience is positive or negative; this is the only way we can mature. We must “live by being alive,” attentive to what happens. We must take risks, diving into life to take advantage of the opportunities presented to us – to love, to enjoy, or to suffer. We must learn to communicate our ideas and opinions, express our emotions, and know how to put ourselves in each other’s shoes by understanding where they are coming from. We must strive to respect differences, approach similarities, and be open and spontaneous through it all. In other words, be your true self!
