In the Company of Three, Chapel of Jimmy Ray - opening

By Ray Burns

The place to view and to celebrate all that is creative is in La Cieneguita this Saturday, July 29 from 1 pm to 5 pm. The Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery presents a new exhibition, “In the Company of Three” for your discerning pleasure. Artists Ann Chamberlin, Patti Heid and Anado McLauchlin have conspired to present a multi dimensional gumbo of painting, mixed media collage, mosaics, assemblage, furnishings, jewelry and much more. This latest offering from San Miguel’s “Outsider” Gallery is culled from a collection of active spirit and keen unfiltered imagination.

Ann Chamberlin holds a BFA from The Universidad de las
Américas, Cholula, Puebla,Mexico and an M.F.A. from the University of Texas, Austin. She has worked as a Fulbright Scholar/Artist in Medellín, Colombia. In her own words: “My paintings tell stories that treasure the personal and vulnerable. I set these scenes in places that are in flux --a stage, the seashore, a trailer park or perhaps a crime scene so that some transition is imminent and we can see a range of possibilities to our actions and inactions. There are implications of innocence and complicity in each story too and that's what makes a painting ring true to me.

Patti Heid has carved a strong foothold in both the Los Angeles and San Miguel art communities. Her paintings have evolved from professional airbrush painting techniques learned in her father’s garage as a child to tripping the light fantastic with an inspired edge. Over the years the work has grown in mystic sophistication harvested from the dancing realms of digital imagery and the adornment of “all that glitters and glows”…

Anado McLauchlin is the creator and curator of the Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery which is gleefully situated amongst the compound known as Casa de Las Ranas in La Cieneguita. Anado’s work continues to explore the landscape of the revelatory by combining found objects, assemblage, mosaic, paint and naive perspective in a refined environment of installed metaphor. The viewer is invited for an extended internal dialog while engaging with the willful map of surprise that confronts one’s imagination upon viewing Anado’s offerings.

The Chapel of Jimmy Ray Gallery continues to offer expressive art openings in a celebratory community spirit. You are invited for a festive afternoon in the campo. Be prepared for an imaginative encounter with visceral surprise. For Directions: www.chapelofjimmyraygallery.com
