Slide Lecture An Ancient Tribe in the Modern World
Renowned anthropologist Susana Valadez presents a slide lecture about the ancient Huichol people, one of the few remaining Mexican tribes that have survived intact into modern times. Huichols continue to dress in spectacularly embroidered apparel, an integral part of their spiritual connection to the gods. Susana Valadez is the Founder and Director of the Huichol Center for Cultural Survival and Traditional Arts, now in its 37th year. Her association with the Huichol tribe is so intimate that she has been able to obtain rare and exclusive photographs of ceremonies and rituals.
