Lila Downs - concert

Finally the Foro San Miguel will spread its wings; it will be the most important venue in the city for concerts and artistic events.
The project was the idea of former Mayor Luz María Núñez Flores and Eduardo Arias. With this new entertainment location, they were seeking to attract more tourism with events of international quality. The space was originally planned for 10,000 people.
Mayor Ricardo Villarreal told Atención San Miguel that when he took office he conducted an analysis of the city’s assets, in order to make the most use of available spaces. In that analysis they found out that the acoustic shell (Foro San Miguel) had no structural damages (based on legal and specialized studies conducted by the state authorities) but it had damages due to lack of use. The basement was flooded, and also it needed washrooms and parking.
Now the construction is done, and the space has 1,924 seats as well as a general area for two thousand people.
Lila Downs has one of the most powerful voices in Mexico. She is a woman with Mixteca and American roots. Downs successfully performed in San Miguel during the festival San Miguel Cantador in 201.
The audience loved her and wanted to hear more from her voice and the band´s music.
For two decades, the singer has traveled the world singing her Mexican roots with rhythms that go from blues to jazz and from cumbia to rock and pop or even rap. Lila Downs will sing: “Cucurrucucú paloma,” “La Cumbia del mole,”“Tacha la Teibolera,” El último trago,” “Viene la muerte,” and “Cielo Rojo.” Her voice and music are just like candy to the ear.
Tickets are available on E-ticket. Prices go from 300 to 1,000 pesos. The concert will take place on Friday, May 12, at 8pm at The Foro in Parque Bicentenario on the road to Dr. Mora.
The concert has a subsidy from the local administration, and Mayor Villarreal said that if there is revenue, it will go to the local DIF (Department for Family´s Integral Development).
