"Incredible. I've never seen theater of this caliber in San Miguel before." - Irina Posner

"Just returned from matinee of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night, done in Spanish, with English supertitles. The acting was AMAZING! Still a powerful, moving play that leaves you speechless! It is playing at the San Miguel Playhouse. If you have the opportunity to see it, don't miss it!" - Maxine Graboyes

"Si viven en San Miguel (o conocen gente allá) no se pierdan "Largo viaje hacia la noche", de Eugene O'Neill!" - Isabel Zapata

"The play was absolutely top-notch. We went with a group of 9 people. If we have a chance to attend another play, in Spanish with the English supertitles, we will personally recruit a much larger group to join us next time." - Chris McCaskill

"The acting was astounding. Run, don't walk, to this fabulous production of the Pulitzer-prize-winning play!" - Judith Jenya

"What an honor to experience theater of this caliber! Please do not miss this theatrical jewel." - Anne Campbell

"A giant leap forward.... Eugene O'Neill's classic play, Long Day's Journey Into Night, performed in Spanish with easy-to-read and easy-to-follow supertitles in English. The acting is extraordinary -- breathtaking even, with seasoned professional actors. The psychological family drama is gripping.... Support bicultural events and enjoy the show!" -- Susan Page

"I can't recommend highly enough the production of Long Day's Journey Into Night - in Spanish with English subtitles on an elevated leader board. The actors are superb and the play an unparalleled classic. Go! You will come away not only with a deeply instructive story of the human condition, but also a rare glimpse of the top-caliber acting talent that is here in central Mexico." - Martha Donnelly

"My parents and I were moved by this performance, which has wonderful acting. The supertitles permitted my Anglophone parents to perfectly follow the dialogue. Anyone interested in serious theater should see this production." - Heather Chase

Long Day’s Journey Into Night - theater

Some ideas are long overdue. For years, San Miguel has had two separate and largely segregated theater communities, one for English-speaking and another for Spanishspeaking theatergoers. Now, however, La Troupe, the city’s first-ever truly bilingual theater company, is about to launch. La Troupe has equipped the San Miguel Playhouse with high-end equipment to display English subtitles, the kind used at many opera houses. The company will present plays in Spanish, using professional Latin American talent, but the subtitles will make those plays entirely accessible to English-speaking theatergoers. For its first production, to run between August 17 and August 27, La Troupe has symbolically chosen a monument of North American drama, Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night.

Don't miss this masterwork that portrays one single day in the life of the Tyrone family. It is based on O'Neil's own family and lays bare the lies and secrets of his youth.
