Old Love - theater

By Marthe Fraser

I am delighted to announce that “Old Love,” by internationally renowned Canadian playwright Norm Foster, is coming all the way from St. Catharines, Ontario Canada to the Santa Ana Theater in San Miguel de Allende.

San Miguel’s Canadians already know this guy and how darned funny and good his plays are. Now all of us Sanmiguelenses will get to see a Foster full production with renowned Canadian actors, Janet Laine-Green and Booth Savage. Aficionados of the San Miguel Playreaders are already familiar with Foster’s plays so Canadians won’t be the only ones lined up to buy tickets. Speaking of tickets, I suggest buying them as soon as they go on sale because there will be only four delicious performances, Thursday through Saturday, March 8 to 10 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. “Old Love” is guaranteed to be a sell-out!

Norm Foster has been called Canada’s preeminent comic playwright. He is the most produced playwright in Canada and there are, on average, an astounding 150 productions of his plays each year. It’s said that on any given day of the year, a Norm Foster play is either in rehearsal or in performance somewhere in the world.

The stars of “Old Love,” are Janet-Laine Green and Booth Savage, two talented actors coming from Canada especially to perform in San Miguel. Green has been a working actor, director, producer, and teacher for more than 35 years. Her performances have been honored with 9 Genii, Gemini, and Dora nominations and she has won The People's Choice Award. Her latest work is playing Janine on CBC's “This Life”. She played the series lead on “She's The Mayor”.

Booth Savage is a playwright and avid stage actor. His plays, “Savage Heat,” “DADS”, “Reversing Falls”, “Pillow Talk”, “Pajama Games” and “This Bloody Business” have been performed on stages across Canada. He himself has performed in over 100 plays in every Canadian province and territory except the Yukon.

You don’t want to miss “Old Love.” It’s a story of courtship, rekindled romance and the indomitability of hope. It doesn’t matter if you’re an old duffer, a young whippersnapper, or somewhere in between, you’re going to enjoy this play.

Tickets are $250 pesos and go on sale February 23, 2018 at the Biblioteca in the Santa Ana Café. There are only four performances of “Old Love” and seating is limited at the Santa Ana Theater. Hurry!
