For More Meaning, Purpose, and Moments of Joy
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. – Helen Keller

You’ve seen inspirational quotes like Helen Keller’s that encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and live your life as an adventure. But getting out of your comfortable routine just takes so much work. There’s actually a lot of science that explains why it’s so hard to break out of your comfort zone, and why it’s good for you when you do it. With a little understanding and a few adjustments, you can break away from your routine, and do great things in your retirement.

In his signature talk, reFirement Mentor Paul Carter will explore in depth Escaping the Comfort Zone, the first in a 5 step process to transform your retirement into an adventure with more purpose, meaning, and joy.

In this session attendees will learn:

● Why it is important to push the boundaries of our comfort zone

● What benefits we derive from breaking out of our comfort zone

● How to do it

Paul Carter, reFirement Mentor

What is reFirement? Today we think differently about retirement. It used to be about saving enough money to be able to withdraw from work. But the result was often loneliness, meaninglessness, and misery. Today, we want something more. In addition to financial peace, we want emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual health in our next chapter of life. We want to reFire.

How do we reFire? Do we rely on random events? The harsh reality is, when there are no guidelines to follow – overwhelm, and depression may reign. Can we increase our chances for reFirement through a systematic process?
Paul Carter has developed such a process called The reFirement Map. It helps people listen to how life is challenging us, and dig deep to find our best next step toward a fulling new chapter in life. He makes this process available through group talks, a blog, workshops, webinars, and one-to-one mentoring.

Paul started out as an ordained, American Baptist Minister. And he has spent most of his career in non-religious settings to help people live with compassion, creativity, and courage. He has worked as a retirement mentor for ten years. He is passionate about this field because of his own personal struggle with not wanting to retire because he thought his life would be over.

His ideal audience needs help going from wondering about what’s next in retirement to pursuing it with passion and purpose. He loves to help them feel fired up, or reFired, about the next chapter in their lives. And when he speaks, he teaches them how to overcome fear and live from their deepest values.
