Skylight, Playreadres - theater

Enjoy an exhilarating evening of theater with David Hare’s “Skylight,” Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 20th and 21st, at 7pm at St. Paul’s Church.

On a bitterly cold London evening, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis, age 30, receives an unexpected visit from her former lover, Tom Sergeant. He is two decades her senior – a successful and charismatic restaurateur whose wife has recently died. As the evening progresses, the two attempt to rekindle their once passionate relationship only to find themselves locked in a dangerous battle of opposing ideologies and mutual desires.

Skylight’s London productions and it’s run on Broadway in 2015 brought raves. “There are times in the theatre,” writes the Sunday Times, “when you suddenly find yourself in the grip of silence. There is no fidgeting or coughing, no shifting about in seats: the audience’s attention is so tense it is almost palpable. This is because it is both thrilling and dangerous: a fight to the death, or the dawning of salvation. David’ Hare’s play Skylight is punctuated by such moments.”

The San Miguel Playreaders production stars actors Jessica Antonelli and Mick Diener, with direction by BC May.

The venue is St. Paul’s Church, Cardo 6, San Miguel de Allende. Tickets are 20 pesos each and will be sold at the door at 6:45 each evening on a first come, first serve basis. All ticket holders must be present when the doors open at 7:00 or their seats may be resold. The play will begin at 7:30 or when the house is filled.
