SMA's Indigenous and Spanish Roots, Rotary - talk

The Rotary club has invited the bestselling author of San Miguel de Allende’s Secrets book series (including a Christmas book) and our city’s top rated History and Culture walking tour guide to explain the indigenous and Spanish roots to today’s holiday traditions.

The holiday season in town spans from the celebrations for St. Nicholas and the Virgin of Guadalupe through Three Kings’ Day and a bit bed, bath and beyond. The holidays are a grand celebration of Jesus’ birth and one of the loveliest and most culturally active times to be in SMA.

To understand what goes on this holiday time of year (the processions, plays, piñatas and paintings) the Rotary is hosting a wry and witty explanation led by Joseph Toone. The San Miguel de Allende Secrets series of books will be available for purchase including two new releases on touring and living here. Book sales benefit the Rotary’s programs.

The workshop is being held during the Rotary’s meeting on Tuesday, December 19th at noon at the Mission Hotel.
