Concierto — Recital de piano a cuatro manos
con Mauro Ledesma y Malcolm Halliday
Concert for four hands with the pianists Malcolm Halliday and Mauro Ledesma, presenting works by Grieg, Mozart, Ravel and Schubert.
Mauro Ledesma was born in San Miguel de Allende Gto. He began his piano studies at the “El Nigromante” cultural center with renowned pianist and composer Marta García Renart. He studied solo concert piano at the University of Colima, where he had as a teacher the world-renowned pianist, composer and conductor Anatoly Zatin. He graduated in 2007. Mauro Ledesma has performed in the country’s main concert halls as a soloist in an orchestra, accompanying pianist and in musical ensembles. He has obtained several recognitions of academic excellence, cultural promotion, dissemination of music, etc. and has performed the premiere of various piano works by different composers. He has taken master classes with some of the best pianists in the world such as Jazminka Stankul, Wou Han, Enrique Graf, Vladimir Viardo, Pierre Reach, Ana Powlensky and Valery Koslov, among others. He has participated as a jury in various musical competitions. Some of his concerts have been broadcast live on radio and television.
Malcolm Halliday has become increasingly involved in the musical life of the San Miguel community. He has been artistic director and president of the San Miguel Choir since its foundation, shortly before the start of Covid-19. He has performed in the United States and Europe, both as a soloist and in collaboration with singers, instrumentalists, and orchestras. He has given concerts with historic pianos from museums and private collections, using period instruments in concerts at Jordan Hall and Faneuil Hall, at Boston Mechanics Hall, in Worcester, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and elsewhere in the United States.
