For the second time in recent months, the Public Library of San Miguel de Allende once again welcomes the presence of María Sánchez Lozano and her excellent band of musicians.

As she has shown us before, María Sánchez now brings us her refreshing very personal version of the Latin American song. On this occasion the music of Brazil. Project that she describes herself:

“The Saudade do Brasil music program is a personal selection of songs, many of them the memories of an entire generation, when bossa nova burst onto the world music scene with its incredible beauty. Sergio Méndes, Elis Regina, Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, are names that are still valid today as the creators of a trend that continues to this day, with collaborations with artists such as Frank Sinatra, and the Black Eyed Peas, among others.

‘This feeling that in Brazil is Saudade and that has no literal translation in other languages, is the feeling similar to the nostalgia that one has for one's land, the people, the weather and of course the music. The natural joy of the Brazilian people is well known to celebrate, in 5 days of carnival, and to work the rest of the year yearning to be part of the next celebration.

‘The rhythms and cadence of this music transport us to a place of memory where the time does not matter, many of us have heard La Chica de Ipanema imagining that scene on the Rio de Janeiro beach where the figure of a girl makes us dream, dancing to the rhythm of a samba That drives a crowd into a frenzy.

In our repertoire we include versions in Portuguese, English and Spanish, songs by Ivan Lins, Chico Buarque and D’javan, a program that grows and changes, since I am always looking for songs that enrich and expand this concert.

Always counting on the collaboration of talented musicians well versed in the music scene, since all of them have jazz as their main base in its different aspects. Sharing our project is always a challenge and a pleasure, making the songs our own and giving a concert that shows the musical richness of a country with which we share many similarities and affection, always looking for the connection with the audience, which in San Miguel, it is multicultural and always receptive to our proposals. A space such as the Central Patio of the Library is perfect for holding events that enrich the cultural proposal and life of our community. We are waiting for you. "

El programa de música Saudade do Brasil es una selección personal de canciones, muchas de ellas, memorias de toda una generación, cuando el bossa nova irrumpió con su increíble belleza en la escena musical del mundo. Sergio Méndes, Elis Regina, Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, son nombres que hoy siguen vigentes como los creadores de una corriente que sigue hasta nuestros días, con colaboraciones con artistas como Frank Sinatra, y Black Eyed Peas entre otros.

Este sentimiento que en Brasil es Saudade y que no tiene traducción literal en otros idiomas, es el sentimiento parecido a la nostalgia que se tiene por la tierra de uno, la gente, el clima y por supuesto la música. Es bien conocida la alegría natural del pueblo brasileño para celebrar, en 5 días de carnaval, y trabajar el resto del año añorando ser parte de la siguiente celebración. Los ritmos y cadencia de esta música nos transportan a un lugar de la memoria donde no importa el tiempo, muchos hemos escuchado La Chica de Ipanema imaginando ese escenario de playa carioca donde la figura de una muchacha nos hace soñar, bailando al ritmo de una samba que pone en frenesí a una multitud.

En nuestro repertorio incluimos versiones en portugués, inglés y español, canciones de Ivan Lins, Chico Buarque y D’javan, , un programa que se crece y cambia , ya que siempre estoy en búsqueda de canciones que enriquezcan y amplíen este concierto.

Siempre contando con la colaboración de músicos talentosos y muy versados en la escena musical, ya que todos ellos tienen como base principal el jazz en sus diferentes vertientes. Compartir nuestro proyecto siempre es un reto y un placer, hacer nuestras las canciones y brindar un concierto que muestre la riqueza musical de un país con el cual compartimos muchas similitudes y cariño, siempre buscando la conexión con la audiencia, la cual en San Miguel, es multicultural y siempre receptiva de nuestras propuestas. Un espacio como el Patio Central de la Biblioteca es perfecto para realizar eventos que enriquecen la propuesta cultural y la vida de nuestra comunidad. Los esperamos.
