On the centenary of his birth, CUBAFEST 2020 Festival, he pays tribute to the star and universal dancer Alicia Alonso (1920-2019) cousin Ballerina assoluta and founder of the National Ballet of Cuba.
This festival of Cuban culture will take place from March 5 to 15, celebrating 17 years of frank readiness for enjoyment and healthy fun. Over the course of eleven days, the Cuban culture star will shine to illuminate Guanajuato and tourists from Mexico and other countries.
This 2020 three anniversaries of cardinal importance converge for Mexico and Cuba: the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Havana, the 20th anniversary of the twinning between this Cuban city, San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato capital, all of them World Heritage Sites. And, in addition, the centenary of the birth of the monumental Alicia Alonso. The tribute to this Cuban woman includes, among other activities, the screening of the biographical documentary "Alicia Alonso: prima ballerina assoluta" (ICAIC) of the Spiral series of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry.
The musical commemoration of these events will be in charge of the excellent Cuban duet "Leo and Marlene"; voice and piano that will open the opening curtain of CUBAFEST 2020, in the historical museum of San Miguel de Allende; the afternoon of Thursday, March 5.
Cuban cinematography will have a leading role in the Miguel Malo auditorium on March 10 and 11, with the presentation of the premiere: "The color of the rumba" by the creator Lester Hamel of BIS Music; according to the rumba as a cultural heritage of humanity-UNESCO. And the award-winning film "El Benny", with the performance of Renny Arozarena and the direction of Jorge Luis Sánchez, biographical feature of the great Cuban singer Benny Moré "The barbarian of the rhythm".
On Sunday, March 8, International Women's Day, CUBAFEST joins this global celebration with the super star presentation of the Havana group "De Cuba Son", under the direction of Havana singer and bassist Julia Pedroso, acting in the privileged Center Cultural of Fine Arts.
The traditional aroma and flavor of the Cuban cocktail bar in CUBAFEST ensures its stellarity on the palate of the tasters attending this festival; Ron Matusalem will be the gourmet star.
The city of Guanajuato capital will also vibrate to the sound and to the Cuban rhythm in several venues, mainly in the closing event on Sunday, March 15, in the stellar Cervantes Theater with what it seems will be an unforgettable concert: "Classic and contemporary Cubans" , by the group "De Cuba Son", a star group that will have as a special guest Camilo Mederos, famous sonero and interpreter of powerful and charismatic Cuban voice.
Meanwhile, "Latte Café, the Girls of Cuba", are already expected in the splendid Plaza Allende in the historic center of the capital of Guanajuato. Here they will perform on Saturday, March 14 in a double program, sharing the stage with the musical surprise of CUBAFEST for all the dancing public: his majesty the "Sonora Habanera" and all its stars.
In the academic space "Gastronomy in Cuban music" will be the central theme of the conference to be held at the Technological University of San Miguel de Allende (UTSMA). The wonderful dessert of this party will be the Cuban educational children's cinema, with several presentations where the children actors of the special Cuban art school "LA COLMENITA" perform.
Thus, after 17 years of permanence of CUBAFEST, it is projected to reach a record number of attendees to this unique tourist and cultural product of free and free access, which contributes to the quality of life of Guanajuato.

En el centenario de su natalicio, Festival CUBAFEST 2020, rinde homenaje a la estrella y bailarina universal Alicia Alonso (1920-2019) prima ballerina assoluta y fundadora del Ballet Nacional de Cuba.
Esta fiesta de la cultura cubana transcurrirá del 5 al 15 de marzo próximo, festejando 17 años de franca disposición al goce y sana diversión. A lo largo de once días brillará la estrella cubana de la cultura para alumbrar a los guanajuatenses y a turistas procedentes de México y otros países.
Este 2020 convergen tres aniversarios de importancia cardinal para México y Cuba: el 500 aniversario de fundación de La Habana, el XX aniversario del hermanamiento entre esta ciudad cubana, San Miguel de Allende y Guanajuato capital, todas ellas Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Y, además, el centenario de natalicio de la monumental Alicia Alonso. El homenaje a esta mujer cubana contempla, entre otras actividades, la proyección del documental biográfico "Alicia Alonso: prima ballerina assoluta" (ICAIC) de la serie Espiral del Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográfica.
La conmemoración musical de estas efemérides estará a cargo del excelente dueto cubano "Leo y Marlene"; voz y piano que abrirán el telón inaugural de CUBAFEST 2020, en el museo histórico de San Miguel de Allende; la tarde del jueves 5 de marzo.
La cinematografía cubana tendrá un preponderante protagonismo en el auditorio Miguel Malo los días 10 y 11 de marzo, con la presentación de la premiere: "El color de la rumba" del creador Lester Hamel de BIS Music; al tenor de la rumba como patrimonio cultural de la humanidad-UNESCO. Y el galardonado filme "El Benny", con la actuación de Renny Arozarena y la dirección de Jorge Luis Sánchez, largometraje biográfico del genial cantante cubano Benny Moré "El bárbaro del ritmo".
El domingo 8 de marzo, día internacional de la mujer, CUBAFEST se une a esta celebración mundial con la presentación super estelar del grupo habanero "De Cuba Son", bajo la dirección de la cantante y bajista habanera Julia Pedroso, actuando en el privilegiado Centro Cultural de Bellas Artes.
El tradicional aroma y sabor de la coctelería cubana en CUBAFEST asegura su estelaridad en el paladar de los degustadores asistentes a este festival; Ron Matusalem será la estrella gourmet.
La ciudad de Guanajuato capital también vibrará al son y al ritmo cubano en varias sedes, principalmente en el evento de clausura del domingo 15 de marzo, en el estelar teatro Cervantes con lo que se antoja será un innolvidable concierto: "Cubanos clásicos y contemporáneos", a cargo del grupo "De Cuba Son", agrupación estelar que tendrá como invitado especial a Camilo Mederos, famoso sonero e intérprete de potente y carismática voz cubana.
Por su parte, "Latte Café, las Chicas de Cuba", ya son esperadas en la espléndida Plaza Allende del centro histórico de la capital guanajuatense. Aquí actuarán el sábado 14 de marzo en programa doble, compartiendo el escenario con la sorpresa musical de CUBAFEST para todo el público bailador: su majestad la "Sonora Habanera" y todas sus estrellas.
En el espacio académico "La gastronomía en la música cubana" será el tema central de la conferencia a dictarse en la Universidad Tecnológica de San Miguel de Allende (UTSMA). El postre maravilloso de esta fiesta será el cine infantil educativo cubano, con varias presentaciones donde actúan los niños actores de la escuela cubana especial de arte "LA COLMENITA".
Así, tras 17 años de permanencia de CUBAFEST, se proyecta alcanzar una cifra récord de asistentes a este producto turístico y cultural único de acceso libre y gratuito, que contribuye a la calidad de vida de los guanajuatenses.
