Joan of Arc: A Vision through Fire - theater

A single actress portrays Joan and a half-dozen other characters in order to chronicle the visions, triumph, trial and execution of the French heroine known as “The Maid of Orléans”.

Joan of Arc; A Vision through Fire was created by John Morrow and Juni Dahr, a renowned actress in the Norwegian National Theatre.

After research in Los Angeles, NYC, and Bergen, Norway, and improvisiontial work at Lamama, NYC and NYU, the play was first produced at the Wallenboyd theatre in Los Angeles in 1989. It was then presented at several theatres in NYC, including a presentation at the U.N. After touring several cities in the United States and production at the National Theatre of Norway in Oslo, it was made into a movie for Norwegian television. Since then it has toured throughout Europe, with Juni Dahr as the actress.

John Morrow has produced the play in NYC, and East Hampton with the Cuban American Actress Maria Baccardi. The first production in Mexico was in San Miguel de Allende and was performed in Spanish by Arleta Jeziorska, at the Capilla de Obraje, in 2008. In 2019 a revival of the play was produced in English at the San Miguel Playhouse with French Canadaian actress Valérie Fortin.
