Tango & Other songs of Love and Heartbreak

The best songs are stories set to music – stories of love, loss, joy, despair, and hope. A song well performed can become a theatrical as well as a musical experience, provided you can understand the words.

On two occasions, January 2019 at the San Miguel Playhouse, and November 2019, at Bellas Artes, the singer / pianist team of Pablo Buniak and Alberto Macedo expanded the field of admirers of tangos and boleros by performing classic Latin American songs with English supertitles. Both concerts were hugely successful.

Now Macedo and Buniak are returning to the Playhouse, on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at 7pm, with Tango... and Other Songs of Love and Heartbreak, a collection of the finest Argentinean and Mexican songs in the repertoire, once again with simultaneous English translation in the form of projected supertitles.

Macedo is a world-class pianist who got discovered as the resident pianist at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City, where he entertained the likes of Madonna and Luciano Pavarotti at private parties, and has gone on to perform widely in Latin America and Europe. Buniak, a recipient of Argentina's prestigious Estella de Mar award, is an internationally known vocalist.

Reserved-seat tickets for the concert are $300 pesos for the center section of the theater, $250 for the side sections, and $150 pesos for the one section of the theater where supertitles are not plainly visible. They may be purchased at Boleto City, Mercado Sano, Ancha de San Antonio 123, Monday through Saturday, 11am to 5pm; or online.
