The recording artist Dwight Blake has a silky and soulful voice that can extend from a Barry White baritone to a Philip Bailey soprano. He honed his show business skills in a rigorous succession of bookings on luxury cruise ships and Las Vegas venues such as the Golden Nugget and the Mirage. Dwight likes to go big.
The MoSoul Concert, his touring Motown-and-soul-themed show, is a grand-scale event, combining Dwight with two hugely talented female vocalists — Denita Asberry and Losanna — a full backup band, and production dancers.
Denita Asberry bears a physical and vocal resemblance to the young Aretha Franklin, whose songs she frequently covers in the “Legends in Concert” shows in Las Vegas, where she makes her home. Losanna is a marquee performer at venues such as Hard Rock Cafe and Grand Palladium, and also an actress with numerous film and television credits. Rounding out the show are the Jennifer Castro Dancers.
The concert will include songs of Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and many others.
An Exclusive Party at El Tupinamba Will Feature the Stars of The MoSoul Concert

“We were not only making music, we were making history,” observed Smokey Robinson, whose band The Miracles was the first act signed by the Detroit label that would soon come to be known as Motown Records, which in the 1960s had well over a hundred Top Ten hits, from artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and many others. History was meanwhile being made in New York City by Atlantic Records, a label that produced hits in the 1950s and 1960s by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. Atlantic’s roster gained even greater luster after a 1967 distribution deal with Stax.
The peerless song catalogues of Motown, Atlantic, Stax, and other labels will be extensively mined for a spectacular show at the Teatro Angela Peralta, featuring three headliner singers, a full backup band, and production dancers. The touring show, called The MoSoul Concert, will run in San Miguel for a single evening, on Sunday, February 16, at 7:30 pm.
For those who don’t want the evening to end with the final encore at the concert, there will be a VIP after-party on the rooftop of El Tupinamba, at Zacateros 45, a restaurant with Certificate of Excellence awards from TripAdvisor. Expected to run well past midnight, the party will include paella provided by the restaurant, wine courtesy of Cuna de Tierra, and live music provided the MoSoul stars.
The lead performer, Dwight Blake, brought his Memories of Motown show to the San Miguel Playhouse last March, where it ran for three sold-out performances, and garnered all five-star reviews on DiscoverSMA. Blake’s favorite kind of show is the large-scale kind. His vocal style was honed in the church, but his finishing school was a rigorous succession of bookings on luxury cruise ships and Las Vegas venues such as the Golden Nugget and the Mirage.

Reserved-seat tickets, ranging from 800 pesos to front orchestra seats and boxes down to 200 pesos for the second balcony, can be purchased online at boletocity.com, or at the Boleto City ticket office in Mercado Sano, Monday through Saturday, 11am to 5pm.
A VIP ticket costs 1200 pesos, and is good for an 800 pesos seat at the concert, and entrée to the private party.
