Latinoamericando y Mas!: Alfredo Muro & Michael Severens

Latinoamericando y Mas!! is the title of the benefit concert for the Rural Educational Institute of Mexico, presented by the distinguished Peruvian classical guitarist Alfredo Muro and will have as guest the renowned American cellist Michael Severens. The program they will present will consist of a first part of guitar solos and the second part offering guitar and cello duets.

It will be a beautiful occasion to enjoy the rich musical of Latin American music as well as Spanish music! From the Brazilian choro, to the melancholic milonga and sensual Argentinean tango, from the vibrant Brazilian samba to the romantic Paraguayan guarania !!

Alfredo Muro's concerts unfold for audiences as a personal and unique experience of emotional awakening, bringing much more than just strong technical talent to the stage. He brings an intense love for the music he chooses and performs with such great sensitivity and emotion. He has the rare ability to become the music, losing himself in it and enabling the audience to transcend their own experience and share his. While this is evident on his many recordings, it is in live performance where this manifests most strongly.

In July 2017 he was nominated for the Añomi Advertising Agency and the Latin American Association of Writers and Artists, receiving the Eureka trophy for Quality and Artistic Excellence, for his artistic career as well as receiving a Diploma of Honour in Humanistic Ethics.

Alfredo Muro has toured the world with his guitar, taking him to perform in more than 16 countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia, in concert halls such as the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian Museum, the Vatican, and the Salon of the Americas of the Organization of the States Americans OEA.

The musical development of Michael Severens was formed from a diversity of origins.
One of the first highlights is with his chamber music studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, where he received training from his scholarship quartet Eugene Lehner, of the famous Kolisch Quartet.

Due to its proximity to Hollywood, Severens was taken to explore the role of the cello in the world of rock music. Later recordings include works with Tom Petty, Ringo Starr and Donovan, among others.

Michael has performed as a soloist at numerous festivals and venues throughout Mexico, the United States and Cuba. He is currently the main cellist of the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato.
