We Need a Little Christmas

After over 15 years in existence, the San Miguel Singers are delighted to invite the public to their annual Holiday Concert entitled "We Need a Little Christmas." The concert will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church at Cardo, 6, on Friday, December 14 at 5PM - FREE CONCERT!

The group is comprised of people in San Miguel who love to sing. They come from varied backgrounds with different skill levels, and join to rehearse every week to bring choral music to the community. Get ready to enjoy traditional, as well as new carols, sacred, and secular selections. The concert will feature several soloists, hand bells, flute and percussion instruments. It will conclude with the traditional singing of "Silent Night" by everyone present. The group is directed by Karen O'Malia and accompanied by Liz Stone.

Karen O'Malia has taken over the direction of the group which was directed by Liz Stone for the past 15 years. Liz inherited the group from Elisa Gonzalez.

Karen brings her background of studying music as a voice major and organ minor at the world -renowned Westminster Choir College of Princeton, New Jersey. She has directed volunteer choral groups for over forty years. This experience includes directing choirs in Butler, Pennsylvania, Houston, Texas, the Chicago-land area, and the Capitol Chorale in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Karen is also an Anglican Priest who serves as a Priest Assistant at St. Paul's Church.

The concert is presented free to the public as our Christmas gift to the community. Everyone wants to celebrate the season and this provides a perfect opportunity.

As we have in the past, a free will offering will be taken to support one of the many Not for Profit Organizations that seek support the community of San Miguel. This year the San Miguel Singers will support the very important work of Patronato Pro Niños, an organization that provides medical, dental, and psychological services to children and adolescents from economically deprived families in the campo surrounding San Miguel de Allende.
