San Miguel’s Poetry Café to Host Winter “Open Mic”

Calling all poets! San Miguel de Allende’s Poetry Café Bellas Artes will cap the 2019 season with an Open Mic event on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Sala Literaria Bellas Artes.

To claim one of 12 time slots, poets are asked to arrive by 4:30 PM and sign in. Each poet should have a prepared three- to four-minute presentation of up to three poems. First-time Open Mic Café presenters who arrive by 4:30 will be given priority.

Since its inaugural event in January 2016, the Poetry Café has featured dozens of established and emerging poets from San Miguel de Allende and throughout Mexico, Canada, the United States, and worldwide. We welcome members of the community and visitors to participate, both as presenting poets and as members of the audience.

“The Poetry Café Open Mic provides a supportive, receptive audience for poets at all levels to give voice to their words. There is always something fresh and surprising at these Open Mic events,” said Maia Williams, co-founder and host of Poetry Café Bellas Artes. “This is our last event of the year, so you don’t want to miss it!”

Poetry Café Bellas Artes meets monthly, September through April. The all-volunteer community organization features local and visiting poets, sharing original work in a casual setting. (Please note: There will be no Poetry Café in December 2019. The next Poetry Café will be on January 16, 2020.)
