On July 18 and 19, El Sindicato will host the dance play In Corpus Tríptico, performed by the most recent assembly of the Company Expreso from Colombia.

Its directors and interpreters are Juliana López, Franchezca Pinzón, and Ana Cecilia Vargas, Colombian dancers, teachers, and choreographers who are also performing arts teachers with an emphasis on contemporary dance at the Francisco José de Caldas District University in Bogotá, Colombia.

Danza Expreso has been working since 2008 under the theatrical direction of Patricia Ariza and the choreographic direction of Franchezca Pinzón. They have created performances and theater dance works whose themes revolve around the restoration of victims of the armed conflict in Colombia as well as the insistence on the presence of women in the construction of peace, in women’s empowerment, and in crafting solutions to gender-based violence.

The play was a competitor in the XXVI Festival of Women on Stage for Peace in 2017, and is a winner with the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation and a winner of the National and International Circulation Grant for dance groups and companies, Cycle II, of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia.

In Corpus Tríptico addresses the universe of emotions through the stories of three women—through their struggles and defeats, the way they find themselves, and their return to their homes and to their bodies, that permanent and constant territory in which muscles, bones, skin, and soul come together to find a dance of their own, free and complete.

In Corpus Triptico is a work that uses the resources of contemporary dance, theatrical action, and different scenic resources to unveil the strength of humans when exposed and vulnerable. Three stories, three women, and three intersecting paths meet and invite us to look at our own emotional intimacy.
