I Want To Know By Ignacio Rodríguez Bach - opening

You are welcome to join us for the inauguration of the new exhibition I WANT TO KNOW at YAM Gallery in presence of the artist Ignacio Rodríguez Bach, Thursday 19th of July 2018, 7pm. Free entrance.

The next exhibition to be inaugurated at YAM Gallery will make us look up to the sky in search of the unexplained and tease our curiosity for paranormal phenomenon. The Mexican artist Ignacio Rodríguez Bach delivers in his show I WANT TO KNOW his investigation about those enigmatic lights he has first observed in the mountains of central Mexico 10 years ago, also known as “brujas” (witches) in the traditional belief of the people who inhabit the region. Granted by the very serious Art + Technology Lab of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Rodríguez Bach has been able to document the strange spectacle thanks to a low-light video surveillance.

Using still frame photography and painting the artist reports, investigates and represents the light bursts. Also, through land art photography he creates light sculptures juxtaposed over vantage points and landmarks in a symbolic representation of what could be behind the mysterious lights.

The privileged situation of the artist, standing at the confluence of contemplation, scientific observation, technical recording and hand-made representation, gives him the extra amount of freedom needed to deeply explore what scientists and incredulous would rather disparage.

Art and poetry are indeed a way to find truth and the artist’s tools are flexible. For I want to know, Ignacio Rodríguez Bach uses painting, photography, video, land art, app-programming and electronic music.

The work of I.R. Bach integrates diverse media with philosophy into what he calls hyper-language; a possible next step to transcend the barriers inherent in social dynamics.

The show will be inaugurated in presence of the artist at YAM Gallery on Thursday the 19th of July at 7pm.
