The Better Halves - concert

The Better Halves are an Austin-based husband and wife duo reminiscent of June Carter and Johnny Cash. Jimmy Joe and Chrissie have been a staple at one of Austin’s largest venues for over a decade, where their funny and touching duets, using clever lyrics and real boy-girl banter, uplift audiences with laughter and knowing nods.

‘Jimmy Joe’ has a terrific talent for storytelling (one of his “car songs” was featured on NPR’s “Car Talk) while wife Chrissie’s whimsical, melodic songwriting earned her a spot on Garrison Keillor's “A Prairie Home Companion.” Playing rousing Chet Atkins-influenced instrumentals (including one featuring 4 hands on 1 guitar), they really know how to wow audiences. “Their guitar harmonies are amazing, their vocals blend so well together, and their lyrics are so thoughtfully put together.
