Tall Tales, Short Plays - mixed

By Nathan Feuerburg

From plays that will make you laugh to stories that will bring a tear to your eye, you won’t want to miss “Live On Stage: Tall Tales & Short Plays” on February 18th from 2:00 to 3:30 PM in the Hotel Real de Minas Ballroom. This year’s feature storyteller, Homero Adame, is the author of many books focused on the myths, legends, and the oral histories of Mexico. He has been called the “el hombre leyenda-the man of legends” and “el arqueólogo de la conciencia colectiva-the archaeologist of the collective conscience.”

Stories will also be performed by artist and performer, Béa Aaronson, author and storyteller, William David Dykes, and three-time Moth StorySLAM champion, Jamie Brickhouse. Our host for the afternoon will be the acclaimed author, Dinty W. Moore.

This year’s event differs from previous years in that it will also include three ten-minute plays. “Playthings” by Mark Saunders, performed during the Capital BlueCross Theatre’s Summer ’17 PASSIONS. It will be directed in San Miguel by Kate Rowland with actors Mick Diener, Anne Campbell, and Maggie Bunch. “Latecomers” written and directed by Marilyn Bullivant will feature actors Rick Davey and Marilyn Bullivant. David Temple’s play, “Trade Secrets,” was the winner of the 2017 Diez Minutos Festival. It will include actors Karen Temple and Geoff Hargreaves.

Tickets to “Live On Stage: Tall Tales & Short Plays” can be purchased at the Hotel Real de Minas during the San Miguel Writers’ Conference (Feb 14-18, 2018).
