Aida is a four-act opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi, premiered in 1871 in Cairo, Egypt. It is one of the most famous operas in the repertoire, set in ancient Egypt, blending a tragic love story with the conflict between duty and personal emotions.

Plot Summary:
Aida, an Ethiopian princess enslaved in Egypt, is in love with Radamès, a brave Egyptian general. However, Radamès is also loved by Amneris, the Pharaoh’s daughter. When the Egyptians defeat the Ethiopians, Aida’s father, King Amonasro, is taken prisoner.

Radamès, torn between his love for Aida and his loyalty to Egypt, is tricked into revealing military secrets to Aida and her father. Amneris betrays him, and he is sentenced to death for treason. In the tragic finale, Radamès is entombed alive, and Aida, who has hidden in the tomb, chooses to die with him while Amneris prays for his soul.

Aida es una ópera en cuatro actos compuesta por Giuseppe Verdi, estrenada en 1871 en El Cairo, Egipto. Es una de las óperas más famosas del repertorio y se desarrolla en el antiguo Egipto, combinando una historia de amor trágico con el conflicto entre el deber y los sentimientos personales.

Resumen de la trama:
Aida, una princesa etíope esclavizada en Egipto, está enamorada de Radamés, un valiente general egipcio. Sin embargo, Radamés también es amado por Amneris, la hija del faraón. Cuando los egipcios derrotan a los etíopes, el rey etíope Amonasro (padre de Aida) es tomado prisionero.

Radamés, dividido entre su amor por Aida y su lealtad a Egipto, es engañado para revelar información militar a Aida y su padre. Amneris lo delata y es condenado por traición. En el final trágico, Radamés es sepultado vivo, y Aida, que se ha escondido en la tumba, decide morir con él mientras Amneris reza por su alma.
