Many of you have been following the daily blogs and photographs of Allan Baillie via Facebook and Instagram. His unusual and sensual closeups of botanicals have been on exhibition at the Blue Moon gallery (Stirling Dickinson 7) since March 28th and will be up on the walls until April 12th, when there will be a closing celebration from 4pm to 7pm. This is Allan's second gallery show in San Miguel (the first was at the Photographic Gallery on Mesones). This show is particularly interesting as it features, in addition to Allan's usual 16" X 20" enlargement of seed pods, leaves and flowers, nine 30" X 30" sepia blowups of botanical images that transform the smallest jewels of the natural world into sculptural images that rival the works of Brancusi and Arp.
