“A Christmas Memory” hosted by Casa de la Noche

“A Christmas Memory” is Truman Capote’s masterful autobiographical short story of a Christmas season with the elderly cousin who was his closest friend when he was eight. On a much anticipated morning in November, she arises to exclaim, “It’s fruitcake weather!” The time is the Great Depression. Truman and his friend have very little. But with what they do have, they create a splendid Christmas and an even more magnificent friendship. It is a story that goes directly to heart of the Christmas spirit. Poignant, funny, tender, and brimming with sensory delights, it is a Christmas classic to be savored.

Catherine Bryne and Marc Taylor, veterans of San Miguel theatre, portray the two main characters and a handful of colorful extras. Their characterizations are spot-on – authentically reflecting time and place.

The performance lasts approximately 45 minutes. The ticket price includes a holiday refreshment appropriate to the story.
