Players Workshop SMA presents a Concert Reading of
The Dinosaurs by Jacob Perkins
Directed by: Richard Hochberg
"Come see the play The Dinosaurs here in San Miguel de Allende in early April!
Currently running on Broadway at Playwrights Horizons we are bringing the hottest, freshest new works to SMA.
This presentation is part of Players Workshop’s New Works Series, an initiative dedicated to bringing outstanding contemporary plays—fresh from Broadway and Off-Broadway stages—to San Miguel de Allende as intimate concert readings. These readings give audiences the opportunity to experience compelling new voices in American theatre.
The Dinosaurs is currently being produced at Playwrights Horizons in New York, one of the country’s most respected homes for new play development.
A moving, funny, and deeply human new play, The Dinosaurs explores recovery, connection, and the life-saving power of being witnessed. Set within the rhythm of a women’s AA support group, the play unfolds with tenderness, humor, and emotional truth.
A piercingly funny, loving ode to the human battle between holding on and letting go.
The Dinosaurs is an intimate and powerful new play by award-winning playwright and mental health counselor Jacob Perkins. Inspired by the stories heard and told when a space feels safe for one to open up, the play, is at the same time intimate, funny and compassionate.
In the same room at the same hour each week, a group of women gather together to speak and listen. The world changes around them but the relationship they've built keeps them coming back time and time again, to the space that helps them to survive together.
This concert reading offers audiences a rare chance to encounter a contemporary new work that is both quietly lyrical and emotionally resonant — a play about survival, fellowship, and what it means to keep showing up for one another.
