Lady Zen, one of San Miguel’s best-loved and most versatile singers, was invited in October by Jazz at Lincoln Center to perform for 1,200 spectators at the Rose Theatre, and wowed the audience and the music reviewers. Zen meanwhile sang at the fabled Birdland jazz club in midtown Manhattan, and was a standout hit there as well – so much so that the club has added Zen to its shortlist of guest performers. When news of Zen’s New York triumph became known in San Miguel, some of Zen’s fans expressed concern that the singer’s annual and much-anticipated holiday show might not take place.

Never fear. Lady Zen’s Holiday Special 2025 is scheduled for two shows on Tuesday, December 23, at Hacienda El Santuario, a luxury boutique hotel in Centro, at Terraplen 42. Zen will be performing with a band, and with special guests—among them, Chilean-born singer Katy Chan, a dynamic artist who has been a member of more than twenty musical groups in Chile and Argentina; and virtuoso guitarist and recording artist Román Sebastián. The concert’s honoree, EEESMA School for the Deaf, will have on hand its remarkable sign-language children’s choir.

A Fulbright Scholar mezzo-soprano who as a teenager was being groomed for the Metropolitan Opera, Lady Zen discovered jazz and blues and changed course. Zen combines operatic power with soulful expression. Conductor John Mauceri, who for sixteen years led the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and who has worked with some of the world’s leading vocalists, said of one of Zen’s performances, “I was deeply moved. What a singer!”

For the holiday concert, Zen and company will run the gamut from classic carols (“O Come, All Ye Faithful”) to jazzy standards (“Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”) to rock and pop (“Jingle Bell Rock”), among many other musical offerings, in vocal styles ranging from gospel to R&B and soul to operatic.

All seats are reserved. There will be 15 tables, of 6, 4 or 3 seats. The first two rows of tables comprise the VIP section. In addition to preferred seating, a VIP ticket includes exclusive access to the VIP lounge, a meet and greet with Lady Zen, and a holiday gift bag. VIP tickets are 1250 pesos. No hay de qué preocuparse. Lady Zen’s Holiday Special 2025 está programado para dos funciones el martes 23 de diciembre en Hacienda El Santuario, un hotel boutique de lujo en Centro, en Terraplen 42. Zen se presentará con una banda e invitados especiales—entre ellos, la cantante chilena Katy Chan, dinámica artista que ha sido parte de más de veinte agrupaciones musicales en Chile y Argentina; y el guitarrista virtuoso y artista de grabación Román Sebastián. El homenajeado del concierto será la EEESMA School for the Deaf, cuyo extraordinario coro infantil de señas estará presente.
