Psychedelia, surf, obtuse spoken word and groove meet for an unforgettable trip with this Mexico City throwback power trio led by Todd Clouser (guitar/voice). Think Band of Gypsys meets Kerouac on a beach in Mexico.

A Love Electric is a three-nationality critically acclaimed power trio born out of Mexico City’s jazz scene. In ten years of tireless touring and creative output, Todd Clouser, Hernan Hecht / Jorge Servín, and Aaron Cruz, all celebrated artists in their own right, have released seven records on labels in the United States, Mexico and Europe, touring the world creating music on their own terms, performing over a thousand shows on four continents.

Gerardo Ruiz, Visual Artist

At the beginning of the 1970s, Gerardo Ruiz was a student of the first generation of the Visual Arts degree at the then Academy of San Carlos, now the Faculty of Visual Arts of our national university. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and taught classes to students of subsequent generations for 9 years in Visual Education and Basic Design.

As a sculptor, he has received one of the awards of the National Salon of Visual Arts, National Sculpture Triennial Section 1979-INBA.

As a painter and graphic artist, he has participated in more than 50 solo exhibitions and over 200 group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad.

He currently continues teaching in his private workshop of Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, and Sculpture.

For Maestro Ruiz, his work is the result of creative impulses that, at the moment they arise in his mind as memories in images and colors, he tries to represent them in a way that approaches his formal sensibility more than the real appearance of the memory itself.

From the conception of the formal solution or the composition, he experiments with materials and techniques that work best to approximate as closely as possible the original remembered image. Thus, we could say that the works Ruiz creates are more products of lived experience than of reality, whether figurative or not.

A Love Electric es un trío de poder de tres nacionalidades, aclamado por la crítica, nacido de la escena del jazz en la Ciudad de México. En diez años de incansable gira y producción creativa, Todd Clouser, Hernan Hecht / Jorge Servín y Aaron Cruz, todos artistas celebrados por derecho propio, han lanzado siete discos en sellos de Estados Unidos, México y Europa, girando por el mundo creando música en sus propios términos, presentando más de mil conciertos en cuatro continentes.

Gerardo Ruiz, Artista visual

A principios de la década de 1970, Gerardo Ruiz fue alumno de la primera generación de la licenciatura en Artes Visuales en la entonces Academia de San Carlos, hoy Facultad de Artes Visuales de nuestra universidad nacional. Completó su licenciatura y maestría e impartió clases a estudiantes de generaciones posteriores durante 9 años en Educación Visual y Diseño Básico.

Como escultor, ha recibido uno de los premios del Salón Nacional de Artes Visuales, Sección Trienal Nacional de Escultura 1979-INBA.

Como pintor y artista gráfico, ha participado en más de 50 exposiciones individuales y en más de 200 exposiciones colectivas en México y en el extranjero.

Actualmente continúa impartiendo enseñanza en su taller privado de Pintura, Dibujo, Grabado y Escultura.

Para el maestro Ruiz, su obra es el resultado de impulsos creativos que, en el momento en que surgen en su mente como recuerdos en imágenes y colores, intenta representarlos de un modo que se acerque más a su sensibilidad formal que a la apariencia real del propio recuerdo.

Desde la concepción de la solución formal o de la composición, experimenta con los materiales y técnicas que mejor funcionan para aproximarse lo más posible a la imagen original recordada. Así, podríamos decir que las obras que crea Ruiz son más productos de la experiencia vivida que de la realidad, sean figurativas o no.
