An Evening of Wine, Food and an Out of the Ordinary Concert
The Baroque Concert will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 5:00 PM, at the headquarters of Agrícola Santa Amalia, in Comonfort, Guanajuato, hosted by our President, Álvaro Nieto.
This special concert, celebrating George Frideric Handel's 340th birthday, will feature selections from two of this great composer's most enduring operas, Giulio Cesare and Alcina. The former depicts the Roman emperor's conquest of Egypt... and queen Cleopatra's conquest of him! The latter concerns the story of a predatory sorceress who holds the knight Ruggiero captive on her magic island.
The cast of Concurso San Miguel alumni features soprano Tania Solís (a finalist in Concurso 2022) and mezzo soprano Ingrid Fueli (a special guest in Concurso 2019).
Our special guest is Canadian countertenor Nicholas Burns, the OSM Award winner at the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques competition in Montreal in 2023 and our guest singer at the "Handel with Care" Mexico-Canada concert in January of 2024.
These talented singers will be accompanied by our very own Santa Amalia Ensemble, a group of musicians from the Academy of Ancient Music.
These young artists will sing Handelian arias and duets, as well as a few "ba-rock" surprises... including a Bohemian Rhapsody arranged for period instruments!
Don't miss THE BAROQUE CONCERT, an afternoon of food and wine catered by Luna de Queso.
Tickets: $100 USD or $2,000 pesos each. Cash only!
Tickets are available at both branch stores of Camino Silvestre, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM: Zacateros 46, and Correo 43; and at Luna de Queso, Josefina Orozco 10.
