The Water Crisis in San Miguel: How It Affects You and Your Neighbors and What We Can Do about It

San Miguel’s water crisis, decades in the making, gets more urgent every day. The aquifer—underground source of well water—has been steadily declining, leaving the remaining water with dangerous levels of chemical pollutants. In this riveting presentation, Dylan Terrell, founder and executive director of Caminos de Agua, will bring us up to date on exactly what the crisis involves, how Caminos de Agua is pioneering clean water solutions with communities who are most impacted, and how to ensure that our region has clean, safe water in its future.

About the Speaker

Dylan Terrell is the founder and executive director of Caminos de Agua, a San Miguel-based nonprofit dedicated to providing clean water access to communities at risk in our region in central Mexico and beyond. Terrell is an Ashoka Fellow, TEDx speaker, and leader of the Caminos team that won the Innovation Showcase Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for a novel water filter design, as well as recipient of the RELX Environmental Award for community-scale arsenic and fluoride remediation. He is co-author of numerous peer-reviewed papers on strategies for addressing technical water challenges. Dylan lives in San Miguel de Allende with his wife and daughter.
