We’re serving up something special for July’s Playreading….
Don’t miss it!
Neil Simon was arguably one of America's greatest and most prolific playwrights. Among his works, he wrote a series of 3 "Suite" plays - scenes with different characters that all occur in the same hotel Suite. In two of them, "California Suite" and "London Suite," we have the same 2 characters: Diana, an English actress, and her closeted husband, Sidney. We decided to combine the 2 scenes into one delightful evening.
In "California Suite", we find the couple preparing to go to the Academy Awards, where Diana is up for a Best Actress award. Twelve years later, we find them in "London Suite." Diana is in a very successful TV show and Sidney, who has been living in Greece with his lover, comes to visit. The plays are both funny and touching. Directed by and starring SMA veteran Marjorie Burren, along with the ever delightful Rick Franz and featuring the always wonderful Carole Schor, this promises to be a very "sweet" evening.
Performance dates are Wednesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 17
House opens at 5:30 pm, show time 6:00pm
At the Santa Ana Theater at the Biblioteca Pública
