A know falsehood, deliberately repeated is a lie.

The theory of Strong Emergence rejects the idea that the laws of physics (which is all materialists believe in) could ever produce a rational mind. Think about it. Great scientists, who are not theists, wrestle with the fact that materialism cannot account for consciousness. Then, everyone, including Richard Dawkins, admits that biology, chemistry and physics appear designed.

There are a lot of legitimate questions and that the world, including science iteself, would benefit from their being asked. Dismissing people, all people, who deny the accepted scientific or politically correct viewpoint, as loonies, phobic or depraved is bad for public health.

There has been a lot of fake news and half-baked science surrounding the Corona Virus. Right now, while you are sheltering-in-place, take a deep breath. Nothing is quite as terrible as "they" would have you believe... okay, almost nothing.

After publishing this two days ago I received the following email:

"Dr" David, ha!! You are not a medical doctor! Come on, and you are full of dangerous misinformation!

Just one example out of many, Magic Johnson did not cure himself by boosting his immune system, he was treated by Scientists, known as real Medical Doctors, almost 30 years ago, with a combination of antiretroviral drugs, known as HAART. And he is not alone, many other patients with HIV were treated with this protocol which prevented them from developing full-blown cases of AIDS!

Hola X,

You yourself in your email prove the point that I make in my article. Some people, intolerant of opinions that diverge from theirs, label those who hold those opinions depraved. You attack me as a person rather than focus on my argument. Calling me "dangerous," ridiculing my scientific background, of which you know nothing. This hysterical incivility is a greater, more immediate threat to the planet than are the Corona Virus and climate change taken together. There are a lot of things that could go very wrong, and are going wrong, besides the climate and the virus. We need to come together.

However, thank you for writing and correcting my misinformation about Magic Johnson. I have added a correction to the article here in blue.

Correction:
An earlier version of this article stated "Magic Johnson cured himself from infection with the HIV/AIDS virus by boosting his immunity." Magic took and continues to take standard medications for HIV/AIDS. Thanks to those who wrote.

It is still my understanding that Magic used and uses lifestyle to enhance his immunity to assist his victory over the virus: "It's just laying asleep in my body. The drugs have done their part and I've done my part by exercising and having a positive attitude..." More

You did a good job with that error, so I would be grateful, if you would point out what other "dangerous information" that I am "full of." Although, I have to contend that there is nothing dangerous about my error regarding Magic Johnson; no one with HIV would forego treatment with antiviral medications based on one line in my article. And Magic himself did use some immune enhancing lifestyle modifications as I recommend in my article(s).

As a former liaison for CFI and American Atheists, I have had the enormous pleasure of spending time with the former Oxford professor of Evolutionary Biology on more than one occasion.

And as for you, you wrote that at the age of 27, you were a homeopathic or holistic or some such practitioner, and someone suggested that you call yourself a doctor. As we know, lots of people move here and reinvent themselves. The reason that I have written to you twice is simply because we have many seniors here with serious medical conditions who need the expert care of medical doctors and proven science and should not be deterred by those who are neither.

Biology:
From page one of Richard Dawkin's most famous book, The Blind Watchmaker: Why the Evidence Reveals a Universe Without Design: "Biology is the study of complex things that appear to have been designed for a purpose."

Physics:
If any one of at least 30 fundamental numbers in physics (such as the strength of gravity) were even slightly different than they are, it would make life impossible. In order for this to have happened randomly, i.e., without design, you atheists posit a Multiverse, a near infinite number of other separate universes where nothing but helium or hydrogen exist. (But the Common Universe Generating Function that produced all these empty universes itself required exquisite fine tuning.)

Chemistry:
The properties of carbon, oxygen and water seem designed to work with each other.

After graduating university I studied science at a postgraduate level for four years, graduating as a naturopathic doctor. I was professionally licensed to practice naturopathic medicine for 23 years.

Thank you so much for illustrating the closed-mindedness, intolerance and incivility which I wrote about in the article.
