Gaia Schilke grew up in suburban USA (CT), and lived in Manhattan for 20 years, then Rhode Island for 10 years before moving to Costa Rica in 2012. During her travels through Latin America she discovered SMA, and has happily lived here since 2016.

Gaia has exhibited her artwork in New York City, New England and Florida, and here in SMA at Imagine Gallery, Berlin, SMA Women's Art Collective & Bodega Organica. For 'Mi Estudio' in February Gaia will exhibit 40 of her new cut & paste paper collage series made with her own photos, “México mi Amor”.

Gaia Schilke creció en los suburbios de EE. UU. (CT) y vivió en Manhattan durante 20 años, luego en Rhode Island durante 10 años antes de mudarse a Costa Rica en 2012. Durante sus viajes por América Latina descubrió la AME y vive feliz aquí desde 2016 .

Gaia ha exhibido su obra de arte en la ciudad de Nueva York, Nueva Inglaterra y Florida, y aquí en SMA en Imagine Gallery, Berlín, SMA Women's Art Collective & Bodega Orgánica. Para 'Mi Estudio' en febrero, Gaia exhibirá 40 de su nueva serie de collages de papel cortados y pegados hechos con sus propias fotos, “México mi Amor”.

Born and raised in San Miguel de Allende, coming from a family of Artisans, and growing up around a lot of creativity, I developed my own way of creating art. My mosaics in colored glass and mirrors are fun, whimsical and decorative.

Creciendo entre la creatividad de los artistas artesanales de San Miguel, desarroye mi propio estilo de arte. Mis mosaicos con vidrios de colores y espejos son divertidos, caprichosos y decorativos.

Katrina started painting when she came to San Miguel 21 years ago starting with watercolor, then oil, and finally decided on acrylic. She took classes with Edina Sagert and Maestro Ernesto de la Pena and has changed her style many times, exploring figurative and abstract impressionism, using bright colors reflecting her environment in San Miguel.

She spent 25 years in the British Foreign Service as well as 18 years in television in London. She showed her work for 10 years at the Edina Sagert Gallery, Fábrica Aurora.

Katrina comenzó a pintar cuando llegó a San Miguel hace 21 años, primero con acuarela, luego con óleo y finalmente se decidió por el acrílico. Tomó clases con Edina Sagert y el maestro Ernesto de la Pena y ha cambiado su estilo muchas veces, explorando el impresionismo figurativo y abstracto, utilizando colores brillantes que reflejan su entorno en San Miguel.

Pasó 25 años en el Servicio Exterior Británico y 18 años en la televisión de Londres. Mostró su trabajo durante 10 años en la Galería Edina Sagert, Fábrica Aurora.
