Lindsay Duval

Having lived in New York City, Rio de Janeiro and now San Miguel de Allende has shaped my life and consequently influenced my ceramic sculptures. Working with the alchemy of earth, fire, water while using my hands as the primary tool of creation is an intensely personal artistic experience. I work intuitively but have a continuous inner dialogue with the initial cluster of clay. When I begin the creative process with a batch of clay I'm guided by a variety of techniques acquired over the years from distinguished instructors. I undertake the journey in a thoughtful manner and eventually my inner nature endeavors to define my hand built low temperature, raku creations. The work tends to morph into chaotic organic, even abstract figures, with a provocative life of their own. Upon reflection, if the piece brings a smile to my face and a song to my heart, then and only then, do I consciously choose to share it publicly.

My career spans more than a decade and many of my pieces are in private collections in North and South America as well as Europe. Thank you for visiting the gallery and please enjoy my sculptures.

Haber vivido en la ciudad de Nueva York, Río de Janeiro y ahora San Miguel de Allende ha dado forma a mi vida y, en consecuencia, ha influido en mis esculturas de cerámica. Trabajar con la alquimia de la tierra, el fuego y el agua mientras uso mis manos como herramienta principal de creación es una experiencia artística intensamente personal. Trabajo intuitivamente pero tengo un diálogo interior continuo con el racimo inicial de arcilla. Cuando empiezo el proceso creativo con un lote de arcilla, me guío por una variedad de técnicas adquiridas a lo largo de los años de instructores distinguidos. Emprendo el viaje de una manera reflexiva y, finalmente, mi naturaleza interior se esfuerza por definir mis creaciones raku hechas a mano a baja temperatura. La obra tiende a transformarse en figuras caóticas orgánicas, incluso abstractas, con una provocativa vida propia. Después de reflexionar, si la pieza me trae una sonrisa a la cara y una canción a mi corazón, entonces, y solo entonces, elijo conscientemente compartirla públicamente.

Suzy Taylor was an interior designer and magazine editor in New York City
when she took a painting course at the famous Art Students League in New
York City. She got hooked on painting.
She moved to Connecticut for more space and inspiration (landscapes and
flowers.)

In 2007 she moved to San Miguel de Allende where she designed her own
house which has a gallery and studio on the ground floor- the Arroyo Gallery.
She has added cacti and glass to her subjects.

En 2007 se mudó a San Miguel de Allende donde diseñó su propio
casa que cuenta con galería y estudio en la planta baja- Galería Arroyo.
Ha agregado cactus y vidrio a sus modelos.
