Dawn moved to San Miguel in September of 2001 to give herself a year to see if she could get the images and stories that come to her in meditation out of her head and into the world. She has been here ever since.

Self-taught, she calls her work Intentional Art because it is created to support people in honoring what they have manifested in their lives or what they want more of. She is now an internationally recognized award-winning artist, who ships her magical creations all over the world.

As a corporate consultant to Fortune 500 companies, she traveled throughout the world and studied many cultures, discovering her passion for color, texture, symbolism and art. The symbolism, images, ancient texts and belief systems of these different cultures are the inspiration for her work.

Dawn uniquely integrates these ancient symbols in her encaustic paintings to blend the old with the new, depicting the oneness and continuity that underlie all life. Stories within stories are layered within each piece of Dawn's mixed media artwork, bringing a fresh perspective to ancient designs and concepts. Each piece is accompanied by a text description of her inspiration and the symbolism held within the piece. As the images speak personally to the individual, she also invites you to discover your own meanings.

The oldest encaustic paintings were found in the tombs of Fayoum Oasis in Egypt. Encaustic is an ancient painting medium that mixes molten beeswax with resin and dry pigments. Dawn makes all her own medium and colors. Each of Dawn's paintings contain layer after layer of the wax medium fused using a torch to create a lustrous enamel effect. Its exquisite visual properties make it perhaps the most opulent paint ever known.

Many of her paintings have gemstones embedded in them. She also creates resin figures that she includes in some of her work, creating even more powerful three dimensional imagery.
