Nadine Gay

Ceramic sculpture, assemblages, collage

I was born in France, came to New York in the mid-seventy’s and graduated from Pratt Institute in 1980. I moved permanently to San Miguel last year. I have shown extensively in the U.S while teaching art through a wide spectrum of programs and designing large installations in the community. I love to combine my ceramic pieces with natural and found objects to create assemblages. I create in an intuitive way. What gets revealed over time, when I look at a body of my work, is often unexpected. This playful conversation between my dreams, images and the materials at hand feels deeply satisfying. Stories emerge, the child in me delights in what comes to life.

Suzy Taylor has a degree in Interior Design and worked as a designer, magazine editor and photo stylist in NYC. There she took a class in oil painting at the Art Students League and her direction shifted. She started as an Impressionist but has adapted her painting style to suit her subjects which all respond to light in interesting ways. She is now noted for her soft focus and edges. Subjects range from Flowers to Cacti to Skies to Glass and Glass Reflections. She is also doing extreme close-up photos of glass that look totally abstract.

Mariana Juarez (MJ)

Paintings, art objects, murals

MJ’s work takes us to a world of her own creation, filled with fanciful botanical imagery. Animals, insects, and garden scenes unfold before us, focusing our attention as if we held a magnifying glass to the natural world.

Using clean lines and a minimalist style, MJ’s worlds resemble oversized illustrations. Her love of vintage botanical prints inspire her to open our eyes to a world of unimaginable beauty.Signature features include strong lines, solid bright colors and an inventive use of positive and negative space.

“Making the world more beautiful, one wall at a time.”
Jane Brooks (friend)

"As a mural artist, I am constantly searching for ways to bring the beauty of nature into the urban landscape. My paintings are a reflection of my belief that nature and the city can coexist in harmony. When I paint flowers and other natural elements on city walls, I am not only adding color and vibrancy to the urban environment, but also reminding people of the importance of preserving and protecting the natural world. The term "urban landscape" perfectly encapsulates the essence of my work, as it speaks to the merging of two seemingly disparate worlds. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of both nature and the city, and to work towards creating a more sustainable and harmonious future."

Sculpture & Photography

The Sacred Feminine is the Source of my inspiration! I am passionate about creativity and the creative imagination. I offer my creations as prayers of gratitude for life, homages to beauty, a celebration of the mystery of what comes from ´nothing´! My camera is my ´meditation´ cushion. Open seeing! I am fascinated by color, texture, movement. I love spontaneity and the surprises that come. I love the feeling of the clay and the ´dialogue´ between it and my hands. I begin a sculpture with an incling of an inspiration and ´listen´ to what the clay ´wants´!

Unique Jewelry

After years of working in outside sales, I partnered my professional experience with knowledge of interior design, critical eye for textures, palettes, mixed artistic materials and love of jewelry. Throughout travels, loved picking out beads, stones, pendants etc. and making jewelry with them. Noticing how heavy some pieces felt, idea came to use rubber bands! I now incorporate many different objects into light weight jewelry.

Oil painting, figurative. Figurative clay pieces.

Originally from San Miguel de Allende. I ventured into the world of painting thanks to my dad who is a sheet and brass craftsman. I started painting altarpieces on sheet metal. My dad took me to Keith Keller's painting workshop, who was my first teacher. A few years passed and unfortunately Keith began to lose his sight, it was then that his friend Rita Torlen took painting classes and that's how I met my mentor and friend, with whom I strengthened my love and knowledge of painting and also taught me how to work with sculpture. In Clay, currently my work continues to be narrative, with Mexican themes.

This city, full of tradition but very cosmopolitan, was the place where I began to grow as a jeweler. Here I took my first steps working with silver - a material that currently occupies more than 90% of our pieces - and I began to experiment with increasingly striking designs. Jewelry design has made me a fuller woman, something that helping animals in need also contributes to. That's why I like to rescue dogs from the streets, giving them temporary or permanent homes - I live with seven dogs. In fact, part of the proceeds from each DAM sale goes to helping stray dogs. I invite you to know a little about my world
