My abstract drawings further define my relationship with paper. Over time, each work conjures up partial disclosures from a "somewhere" or a "something". Drawing with graphite, pastels, ink or tape, I excavate, destroy and rebuild. I explore until the images seem to emerge from the paper itself. It is the establishment of an intangible interior dimension that challenges me.

I experience the full expression of who I am by creating art. In the words of Alan Alda, "The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself."

Terry Tomlinson comes from an academic background of painting and bronze sculpture. She studied at the Art Student's League and the Woodstock School of Art in NY before discovering paper at Bellas Artes in San Miguel 20 years ago. She continued her papermaking studies with master paper makers from around the world at the Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY. Using Japanese techniques and asian fibers she has continued to explore the medium of handmade paper in exciting new ways. Currently she is also working innovatively with plastic film , masking tapes and mixed media.

Twenty years ago she designed and built her home/gallery in the historic center of San Miguel. In addition she has shown her work internationally for over 30 years. Her work is held in private and corporate collections in the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe
