I began making paper by hand in 2002. The fragile and ephemeral qualities of paper are a reminder that all of life is impermanent and has its inherent transformative rhythm. The evolution of paper from wet pulp to the finished form grants me this presence of transformation. When making paper I feel connected to nature in a direct way. I am constantly inspired by its beauty and infinite variety of texture, color and form.

Terry Tomlinson comes from an academic background of painting and bronze sculpture. She studied at the Art Student's League and the Woodstock School of Art in NY before discovering paper at Bellas Artes in San Miguel 20 years ago. She continued her papermaking studies with master paper makers from around the world at the Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY. Using Japanese techniques and asian fibers she has continued to explore the medium of handmade paper in exciting new ways. Currently she is also working innovatively with plastic film , masking tapes and mixed media.

Twenty years ago she designed and built her home/gallery in the historic center of San Miguel. In addition she has shown her work internationally for over 30 years. Her work is held in private and corporate collections in the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe
