At the end of World War II San Miguel was a small, magical town that allured serious artists from all walks. It was still that way when I moved here 20 years ago. We artists came because of the town's charm, a love of the culture and, for some of us, the affordablity. We came to enrich our lives.

Coming to San Miguel years ago was a unique move. There were no posh supermarkets or wineries. no pickle ball or ballroom dancing. We were survivors who wanted to create. We were not looking for a retirement village.

As an artist I have always felt that this survival quality has been present in all of my work. I have always used aggressive colors and complex relations. There is a toughness to my work. There is little softness. I do not provide answers. I create moments that allow you to move on, to survive.
