The work centers on the paradox of emotions which occupy our fragile inner and physical exteriors. The work too is loosely based on the book, "Les Parisiennes," about women who faced choices each day regarding survival during WWII, Paris.
The work is profoundly poetic, characterized by meticulous composition and associations to create a collage using elements of light, solarization and every aspect of shadow imaginable. Through her lens she invites the viewer to explore the melancholic, the dreams, the invisible or desire, with which the photographs take on a meditative quality.
The photographs are presented as art objects. They are carefully printed as an archival pigment print on acid free 80 gsm handmade Japanese Kozo paper, made from the bark of the mulberry tree, and using superior inks with a color permanence of 100 years.
The women contained herein offer themselves, their introspection. Their femininity is defined as inner strength, movement, serenity and ability to tread the threshold between the present and the other worldly.
