Gallery HEALY contemporaneo is honored to introduce Guadalajara artist Carlos Larracilla in his first solo exhibition in San Miguel de Allende. Larracilla began his career as a draftsman and painter at sixteen, during a challenging period in his life where he found refuge and therapy in art. His art training was mostly autodidactic. Larracilla studied the work of the great masters such as Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Hieronymus Bosch among others, drawing inspiration from them to expand his own understanding of painting. The atmosphere surrounding women and animals serves as an essential source of inspiration for the artist, whose work reflects his existential inquietude. Throughout his work, one can recognize a common thread that captures the very essence of the artist.
Larracilla maintains a constant state of experimentation and curiosity, driven by a profound respect for his craft and an inner need to express himself through art. His work has been exhibited in more than 120 exhibitions throughout Mexico, the United States, Europe and the United Arab Emirates, with solo exhibitions in New York, United Kingdom, Italy, South Korea and throughout Mexico.
