It is my pleasure to invite you to the opening of Ancestral Mother, the first San Miguel de Allende solo exhibition by Oaxaca artist Alejandra Villegas, presented by HEALYcontemporaneo.
Known for her bold use of color and powerful visual language, Villegas blends indigenous imagery with surrealism, weaving together nature, animals, and mythic symbolism. Her work continues the artistic lineage of Oaxaca's own modern masters Rufino Tamayo and Francisco Toledo—rooted in ancestral heritage yet imbued with a distinctly contemporary sensibility. Both synthesis and essence, her paintings evoke the dreamlike and the sacred, reflecting a deep cultural continuity.
With over thirty solo and group exhibitions across Mexico, the United States, and Europe, Villegas now brings her latest collection to San Miguel de Allende.
Welcome artist Alejandra Villegas on Saturday, November 8th, 2-5 at Puente de Umaran # 15, Local "J", Centro. ½ block from the entrance to Mercado Ignacio Ramírez.
