It's Not Our Fault

I always knew society was attempting to influence me with programming. I was in revolt against it my whole life. One of the most obvious progressions began as a teen: smile all the time, dress to attract a man, get a boyfriend, get engaged, have an engagement party, receive gifts, get married with the most expensive wedding you can afford, get more gifts, get pregnant, have a baby shower, get more gifts, love being a mother, have more children, purchase a beautiful home, buy tons of things to put in your home, buy the nicest car you can afford, get a bigger title, more income, work harder...

Even after realizing that such conditioning existed, I had no clue how deep it really went or that I could choose not to subscribe. We've been programmed for generations, especially in the U.S., not just by media, but by society: our families, institutions and friends. We're all perpetuating the same conditioning on each other in a disastrous loop that's hard to escape.

But it's important to realize that it's not our fault if we've bought into it... up until now.

Getting Some Distance

I wasn't truly aware of how intensely we are bombarded with programming 24 hours a day until I moved to Mexico. As soon as I moved to San Miguel, I started telling people, "Coming here I feel like I've unplugged from The Matrix." We can't see the programming when we're swimming in it. We need distance, perspective, a different frequency.

One beautiful bonus of living in our Pueblo Magico (at least in the older parts of town) is the lack of advertising. There are no billboards, no giant corporate signage blasting its lighted flashing message at you. The removal of that visual pollution is such a relief for eyes and minds. Not being constantly bombarded with messages telling you what you lack, what to buy, who to be - is a big relief. Environment shapes beliefs. The collective consciousness of a place affects our frequency.

No Joke

You may fondly remember a Saturday Night Live sketch with Al Franken sitting in front of a mirror reciting affirmations, "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And doggone it, people like me." We all laughed, thinking it absurd; Some lonely, dorky guy talking to himself in a mirror, trying to convince himself of his own value.

But that sketch itself? Programming. A form of weaponized mockery, ridicule as social control, it mocked attempting to reprogram our consciousness, making it seem so ridiculous that no one would ever take it seriously. We agreed collectively that it was stupid. And that conditioning stuck, because that's exactly what came to mind when I heard about a similar method of reprogramming my thoughts, "Oh that's so stupid. Just like that old sketch."

But when I heard about a simple protocol for deprogramming that negative voice inside my head, there was something about these specific words that resonated with me. If this methodology had been developed based on "archetypal symbols that are common to the collective consciousness," perhaps there was something embedded here that would work. The premise is simple: repeating specific phrases twice a day, spoken while looking into your own eyes in the mirror, every day for seven weeks. I started the protocol the last week of December 2024.

Talking to Yourself

When I started, I did feel really, genuinely stupid, laughing at myself, belittling myself. Then I realized - that's my conscious, programmed mind stepping in to ridicule, to protect the existing programming.

Like other humans, I had a recurring loop of negative self-bashing running through my head most of my life, constant criticism and belittling doubt: "Who do you think you are? What makes you think you can do this?"

Today, I don't have that anymore. I simply don't hear it. The peace and kindness I now feel from my inner self buoys me through life's ups and downs. But it took commitment, self-discipline.

After completing the seven weeks, I felt so good that I decided to keep repeating the phrases. Now I only do so intermittently, and not always in the mirror. (Although, there is a specific neural pathway from the eyes - a direct gateway - to deep brain centers.) But I've been consistently repeating those phrases each morning when I walk my dog. And I've added some others: "I was born magnificent," "My telomeres are lengthening" (anti-aging), "My body is youthful, healthy, and balanced."

If you laugh and brush this off as nonsense, that's just your conscious programmed mind negating it, exactly as you've been taught, as we all were taught. The human mind protects itself from information that could destroy its conditioned view of the world. But try noticing what you automatically dismiss as ridiculous. Ask yourself why you have that reaction. The programming runs deep, through families and culture. But I promise you - once you see it, you can't unsee it.

The Only Way Out is In

I can't tell you what to believe. But I can tell you that these concepts changed my world...completely. It wasn't scary or bad, quite the opposite. Could these concepts change your life? What if you tried it for seven days, a couple of weeks, the whole 49 days? Words and intention are so powerful. New neural pathways will form and obliterate the looping negativity. (Dr. Joe Dispenza has actual brain scan research showing this.)

When you change the inner dialogue, deeply ingrained in you, is when the real freedom begins. It's free, simple, easy, and it feels good, better each day. So what have you got to lose?
